I thank the Lord for giving me an opportunity to reach out to the Ethiopian diaspora here in Charlotte, NC!
One can only imagine the challenges of my dear brothers and sisters getting adjusted to life here in the United States and particularly in Charlotte, NC.
The Ethiopia Ambassador to the United States said to me “Bill, you are part of the Ethiopian Diaspora!”
Please pray for me that I would be a light in their community.
My good friend, Pastor Israel, has been a great spiritual leader in the Ethiopian community. This past week, he had a book launch of three books that he has written to give encouragement to believers. Great to be a participant in this amazing launch!!
A beautiful mom and two beautiful daughters who have the gift of hospitality.
Former Ambassador of Ethiopia to the United States, Fitsum Arega after a visit to the Billy Graham Library, encouraged me to continue my relationship with the Ethiopian community.
The 40th wedding anniversary celebration of the parents of my dear friend, Robel. It turned out to be a great worship service honoring them and more importantly the Lord Jesus who has kept them together. A super time!
A dear friend, Kenny Isaacs, now Samaritan’s Purse Vice-president of Programs and Government Relations, launched his book this week at the Billy Graham Library here in Charlotte. Grace and I met Kenny and his wife Carolyn, back in 1988 in Ethiopia. He was sent out by SP to drill wells and help with the great famine and drought in Ethiopia. I was doing the same! These two North Carolina Tar Heels bonded together and we have been close friends ever since.
Kenny has more than 35 years of experience working in relief and development for the sake of Christ. His work has taken him to 150 countries in response to global emergencies resulting in wars, complex crises, famine and natural disasters.
He coordinated relief efforts in the 1994 Rwanda genocide, the Ebola crises in Liberia, massive earthquakes in China and Haiti. He also implemented emergency relief programs in Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia, Bosnia, Cambodia, and the Helene Hurricane that devastated western North Carolina and eastern Tennessee.
Please get the book on Amazon or your bookstore.
“Running to the Fire / Helping in Jesus Name”
Thank you for your prayers as we continue to know Christ and make Him known. Sending this with love.
